Junior League of Boston Show House 2016

The Story of La Belle Cuisine

A dirt floor, no heat or electricity in the kitchen, like something from Colonial days…a grand old historic house The Nathaniel Allen House built in 1848 in complete disrepair!

When I discovered that this year’s Junior League of Boston’s Show House was to be in Newton, I jumped at the opportunity to submit a proposal. Collaborating with an ALL STAR team starting with my favorite builders FBN Construction and ~ Designer Bath, Metropolitan Cabinets, Cumar Marble and Granite, Baldwin Hardware, Clarke Appliances, Tile Showcase, Artefact Home &Garden and Wolfers Lighting….and our kitchen design was selected!

Two and half months, three hundred+ tiles, 12 rolls of wallpaper, and many many many man/woman hours later, La Belle Cuisine emerged! I am so thrilled about this latest endeavor – the kitchen design for the Junior League of Boston’s 2016 Designer Show House!

Inspired by the French love of food and entertaining and history inherent in French culture, I sought to bring a taste of Paris to Newton. The vision for this kitchen is sparked by French Bistro design, a combination of high style and elegance with a refreshed and relaxed attitude.

As an artist living in Newton, this project has special meaning for me. The building will be the new home of the Newton Cultural Alliance, a consortium of arts and cultural organizations based in Newton. All our hard work will have a lasting benefit for an organization in my own community. I am so happy to be able to give back to Newton in this way!
