Vani Sayeed Studios ~ Highlights 2016!
What an incredible year it’s been at the studio, I don’t know where to start!
Look what appeared on my doorstep this spring! The ID Boston magazine, with a fabulous spread on a kitchen I re-designed for an active family in Newton. Check out the centerfold below – makes you want to whip up something special, yes? I’m personally partial to the sexy bar area – cheers!
Speaking of kitchens and spring, I was excited to be chosen as the kitchen designer for the Junior League of Boston’s 2016 Designer Showhouse. It was truly a labor of love, set in my hometown of Newton, and benefiting Newton Cultural Alliance. We took the space from a raw, unheated, dirt floor to La Belle Cuisine, a stunning take on French bistro style. I even featured a Parisian salon inspired art wall using some of my original works of art. Soooo much work, but in the very best way!
Next up, I completed a fabulous design/décor project this summer. My clients and I share a mutual passion for art, and I truly loved working with them interpreting their vision. Thrilled because the finished product has exceeded all our expectations, and epitomizes the synergy that can happen when a designer and clients are on the same page! Luxury, drama, and family life CAN co-exist happily.
Also, I sit on the Baldwin Hardware’s Design Council and they sure put your noodle to work, though it’s not all high-minded design all the time! I had a fantastic time at their lavish gala for Baldwin Hardware’s “70 Years Bold” birthday at the Greystone Mansion. Nothing beats partying in Beverly Hills!
One of my favorite events this year was “Coffee and Conversation” at Dayton Home – a lovely, relaxed morning of great conversation on the creative process of both art and design and the symbiotic relationship I have with the two disciplines.
All this hard work paid off in industry recognition as well – happy clients are the ultimate, but it’s always nice to get an “atta girl” from your peers. I upped the office bling at the 2016 PRISM Awards, taking home some serious ice! – Two gold’s and a silver! Plus IFDA – NE 2017 Best Design Showcase Award.
With a nod to the wonderful opportunities of 2016 and a toast to a fresh palette in 2017, I bid you adieu. Happy New Year!
